Membership
Membership is open to any group as follows:
- Associate membership is open to any group who can show that they uphold the values of FEDS, that they include equality of opportunity as a key aim and they are working towards implementing a comprehensive equalities policy.
- Full membership is open to any organisation which can show that they are actively following a comprehensive equalities policy in their daily operating (e.g. recruitment procedures, relationships with their staff and the general public, adaptations for minority groups).
FEDS is a multifaceted working partnership between all sectors of the community; the public, business and voluntary sectors. Membership is open to any group, providing they meet the membership criteria above. From the overall membership, the Steering Group will direct the general progress of FEDS and manage the work of the Development Worker.
The Steering Group will comprise:
- Representatives of each of the six equalities strands
- Representatives of the public bodies Equalities Officers Group
- Representatives of the business sector
- A representative of the Somerset Voluntary Sector infrastructure
- Representatives of other bodies or sectors as relevant according to other structures from time to time within the County.
PARTNERSHIP WORKING PRINCIPLES:
- All Forum members agree and actively support the FEDS values and partnership principles so that the Forum and Management Committee are seen to be examples of good partnership working.
- All organisations accepting a representative role will participate fully in all aspects of that role.
- All partners have a commitment to developing the Equality and Diversity agenda.
- All news and achievements of the Forum are shared and communicated under the heading of the Forum for Equalities & Diversity in Somerset.
- All participants will be supported to review progress against agreed standards to monitor progress.
